안녕하세요! Hello!

안녕! Did you know what I just said? It is mean “Hello!” in Korean, and you might think the beginning is very familiar because it is similar when I start my French challenge. Anyway, today is the first day of my second half 30-day challenge, so I’m just going to teach you some of the basic greetings that Korean people will use in their daily life.

The first sentence I am going to teach is “Hello!”, but remember that in Korean society they will need to add polite word if you are older than them. That is something really need to notice when you speak Korean to a Korean people, because if you accidentally didn't or use polite words in the wrong situation. Those Korean people might think you are very rude or very respectfulness to them, so it is important to know when you should use polite word or not. Let us back to our topic, to say “Hello!” in Korean is “안녕!”(An-Nyeong). If we add polite word in it, it will then be “안녕하세요”(An-Nyeong-Ha-Se-Yo). From the word we can tell that they have similar word structure, but for the polite one it add three more words in it. Hello is not a hard sentence so let us continued the lesson!

The next sentence is “고마워!”(Go-Ma-Wo), which mean “Thank you!” in English. If we add polite words in it, it will be “감사합니다”(Gam-Sa-Hab-Ni-Da). For “Thank you!” it is different than the “Hello!” one, it didn't only add the polite word on it. The sentences have totally change into a different form. Anyway, as we all know that Korean people are very polite to each other. This mean it is necessary for us to say “Thank you!” to them all the time, no matter where you are. From my experience, I think learn how to say “Thank you!” in other language is very important, because even though we didn't have a really good English or one specific language. As long you know how to say “Thank you!”, most of the people won’t be mad at you and they might even help you! If you didn't say “Thank you!” after one person help you, they might just think this person is so rude that even didn't say “Thank you!" to me. Then he/she will told their friends, and more people will know that people from your country are not respect to other people. I believe that is something you don’t want to face when you travel to one country, so remember to learn how to say “Thank you!” before you travel!

I think it is enough for today, we have learn two different useful sentences for our daily life, include the polite way of speaking. For the next one I think we will go over some asking sentences, but I didn't decide what kind of sentences I will teach. Perhaps I will pick those sentences that appear in the Korean TV show very often. I don’t know, it is all depends on you guys. Remember to put comment below the blog, so I would able to know what kind of sentences you want to learn. See you next time! 안녕!
