You know what I mean (revision)

On Friday afternoon, Andy was sitting in the common room and watching TV. Soon, Jason came in and sat next to Andy.

He asked "How is your day, bro?"

Andy answered "Pretty good, I just finished my Chemistry test."
Jason "Really? Then you can enjoy your weekend I guess."
Andy "Yea, but I still have something need to do over the weekend."
Jason "Like?"
Andy "Some college stuff."

"Oh! Talk about college, how is your application going on?"

"Well, I don't really want to talk about college right now."
Jason remember yesterday was the day that the result for college early decision came out. Then from Andy's face he can feel a touch of sadness. He thoughts maybe Andy didn't accept by his dream college, and that was the reasson why he didn't want to talk about it.
Jason said “It will be fine, everything will overcome.”

Andy ”I know, but I just don’t know why it will happen."

"Well, it is just an early decision, nothing matter about it. By the way, it doesn't mean you didn't have any chances."

"I know, but I’m sure I check everything before I send my application. Everything should be perfect, but….”

“Well, you can’t change anything right now, I suggest you to look forward. When God closes a door, he always opens a window.”

“I think you are right, I shouldn't keep being negative.”

"Yea, this is the real Andy I know."

"Thank you Jason, you did help me a lot."

"No problem, this is my job for being your friends. Anyway, I didn't accept by my Dream college too."

"You didn't get accept in?"

Jason asked confusly ”Wait, didn't you say you get reject?”

"Who told you that, I got accept by Boston University. They just want me to send a new photo to them in order to make my student ID card, because last one I sent was awfal and they want me to give them before the end of today."

After Jason heard that, he went back to his room and felt very disappointed rest of the day.

You know what I mean!

Have you ever been through a stituation that while you are talking about something, but your friends are answer with a totally different thing. It is possible to happen and you might even didn’t notice until both of you told each other what you are talking about. The story below is actually having the situation I just said, let us see how interesting it is and how is it still make sence to each other.

Jason "Like?"
Andy "College...I don't really want to talk about this right now."

Jason said “It will be fine, it doesn’t mean you don’t have chance.”

Andy ”I know, but I just don’t know why it will happen. I’m sure I check everything before I send my application and everything is perfect, but….”

“Well, you can’t change anything right now, the only thing I suggest to you is look forward. When God closes a door he always opens a window.”

“I think you are right, I should just take a new photo right now!”

Jason confus asked ”Wait, take a photo?”

Andy answer ”Yes, I think the photo I send through the application is awful. I almost think the college won’t accept me just because the photo, but I’m glad I still accept by BU.”

Jason think in his mind”OMG! I can’t believe I misunderstood the idea whole time, but he still can response my idea even though we are talking different thing."

“I’m glad you get accept, maybe we should order pizza to celebrate.” said by Jason

“I think that will be a good idea, because I’m so hungry right now!”

First paragraph

If I am Charlie Brown

The most interesting character I like in the video is Charlie Brown. The Eason why I like him is because he use a lot of "If I" and "I should" in his writing. I think this is a repetition, because he repeat this same word over and over again. However, I didn't feel any tired about his writing. Even more I think it is very interesting because this will make the audience remember what he said. He also use solution or what he think will happen after he use "If I" and "I should". It make the writing become more smooth  and having connection between each sentence. These are the reason why I think Charlie Brown is the most interesting person in this video.

Revise for peer

5. People like to choose one from green vegetables, Chinese cabbages, Chinese chires or celeries, and put into the dumplings.

6. You might think it will be very salty,but it isn't actually. Surprisedly, it is a little bit sweet.

How to write?

Those two paragraph are talking about how to write good writing. Each of them are wrote by same author but telling different idea. One is talking about the 13 rules that one writer should follow when the write. Another one is talking about some idea you can think about while you write. For the 13 ways of writing, it told people that there is nothing right or wrong on writing. You can did whatever or however you want because you are the author. People won't care about whether your writing are strange or disagree with their thought. As long you are the author, no one will say anything about your writing. 

Another writing is talk about what is a good writing and a good writing is like something else. To write a good writing is not a difficult thing, it didn't require fantastic grammar or miracle vocabulary. A good writing can be very simple, brief to the point. It didn't need to be a long essay or multiple evidences to support your idea. Writing a good writing can be similar to doing something else. For example, it said good writing is like math or good teaching...etc. This mean write a good writing is not difficult, but it is base on whether you think it is a good writing or not.

Both are them for me are very useful because I am one type of person that didn't think a lot before or while I am writing. These two article did give me a lot of idea about writing, such as a good writing didn't nessecery have to include tons off evidences. To write a good writing only need the author think they are writing a master piece every time when they write. This is why right now I will think more about the writing before I actually write it. It will help my writing become more organized and more smooth.  

Grade for my food

After compare my essay to the TOEFL rubric, I think I might get a 3 on my writing. The reason why I will say that is because I am confident with my introduction this time. I have a interesting hook at the beginning and a pretty well thesis at the end of the intro. Then I provide 4 evidences to tell the reader the information about the food and the meaning to me. Pretty strong and descriptive language in the body paragraph. At the end, I conclude all the information that I wrote in the body paragraph and use a closer to end this essay.

MY GOAL

Tomorrow will be the end of the first semester, which mean my junior year have been go over half year already. This tell me that the day of decision will be coming soon. I still remember at the beginning of the school year I set up few personal goal to challenge myself. I think now is the time to check what kind of goal did I achieve.

The first goal is getting a good score on SAT/TOEFL. From the PSAT score that I took in October I found out that I still need to work more hard on it. The result I got was not really well and at first I thought I could get a better score than this, but the truth told me that I’m thinking too much. The cruelty of the real life tell me that thinking good is not enough, you will only get how much you paid. This PSAT score just like a hammer and help me to wake up, I need to stop playing that much video game and do something that is useful for my life. This is why I start to do some changes to my lifestyle. I start to memorize SAT vocabulary everyday, because I know that I’m doing pretty bad on the writing part. The main reason is because I didn't know many vocabulary, so by memorize SAT vocabulary can definitely help my writing become more vivid and interesting.

Beside the SAT goal, I also set a goal is that I want to make more friends than last year. I did a really good job on this goal because right now I have many friends whom come from all over the world. I could learn their culture from all of them, such as their dress, music, food...etc. This help me to learn more about other countries, so that I can talk with them comfortably without saying  something not appropriate in their culture and will make them angry.

One goal I didn't mention in the beginning of the school year was become more mature. In most of the people mind, they still think me as a kid and all I want is playing. This year give me a lot of challenges that I never have before, and those challenges can only bear by myself. This form an invisible pressure cause me can’t sleep well every night when I came back from winter break. Then I think now would be the time for me to become more mature. I should not keep playing that much because this year might be my most important year that I ever have. Just like my parents said “After this year when you get into a good college, you can do whatever you want!” Maybe my parents was right, I have the responsibility to not let my parents disappointed. Now is the time to prove them I could get into a college, I can get into a college that better than my brothers did. I will show them I am the best in my family!

Working on my essay

I have a really good process on my food essay revision. The biggest problem I have is my tense problem. In my essay, there are lots of place that I used the wrong tense for wrong time. Such as the place I need to use present tense I used past tense. This make my essay become very awkward and not smooth. To make my writing become better, I first start with reread my work again. The reason why I did this is because I want to know where I got wrong and need to improve. Then I take some notes on each paragraph, the notes are about what tense should I use for. I can know what I need to change by reading my notes and I won’t forget what should I do before. However, the tense problem is just one of the problem I have in my writing. Second thing I am going to work on is the descriptive language. In my writing, there are several place that the language I used are weak and boring. Using more descriptive language can help my essay become more interesting and vivid. I tried to not using some weak word like big, long, red...those kind of simple and weak word. Instead of those word, I use some word like unpredictable, unbelievable, movable...etc. This will definitely help my writing become more interesting and will let the reader willing to continued to read. These two are the main problems that I am working on right now, but there are still many detial that I can make my essay become even better than now.

Best Snake in the world

Taiwan is become one of the country that most people willing or travel to, because the foods in Taiwan are very good and make people unforgettable. I did agree on this point because those foods are just incredibly good. One of the most unforgettable food for me is the braised pork rice, this could be the representative of Taiwan. It is called lo-ba-bung in the Taiwanese language. The way how it make is to let the round pork marinated and boiled in soy sauce, then served it on top of steamed rice. Braised pork rice is an affective dish for me since I was small, and I would like to let you know how good the taste is.

Braised pork rice have a really strong smell, not a bad smell but a good one. Imagine what kind of smell you expect when you cook the pork with the soy sauce for a long time. It must be something smells good and will make you become very hungry so you just want to eat it as fast as you can. The smell is very strong that you can even smell it when you stand outside at the door of dinning hall but the food is inside the dinning hall kitchen. 

Beside the smell of the braised pork rice, I need to say the color of it is also very attractive. You will never know how great it looks like until you actually see one. The color of the pork are already mixed with the soy sauce, which mean the pork color transform from pink meat color into brown color. This is because usually when people cook they will boiled food with water, but in this case we use soy sauce instead of water. After time, the soy sauce will soak into the meat. Then you will see the pork will not longer be pink but brown, this is why the braised pork rice will be that successful.

After telling the smell and the color of the braised pork rice, I think it is time for the taste of it. When you eat this snake, I suggest to eat only with the pork first, then eat the pork with the rice. Trust me, it will blow your mind after you eat like the way I teach you because it is so good. When you only eat the pork part, you can feel how great that pork can fit that well with soy sauce. You might think it will be very salty but it is actually not to salty and also a little bit sweet. This make people will not tired of this taste and also mixed it with rice can make the rice won’t be no taste and become more delicious. When you eat the pork with the rice, it is like they are playing a symphony in your mouth, such beautiful and incredible.

For me the braised pork rice is not only a food, it could be part of my memories about my grandma. I remember when I was small, because my parents were always busy so that my grandma will take care of me when they were not at home. My grandma always make braised pork rice when I was hungry, and I think she made the best braised pork rice in the world. However, life is unpredictable, one day my grandma just pass away. I was cried very hard because I know she put a lot of time on take care of me, but I never say thank you to her. Even now I still regret about that I was being mean to her because I think she was so annoying. Now I know that I was wrong but it can’t change anything back, so everytime when I eat the brasied pork rice I will think of my grandma and know I should be a good son that no need my parents to worry about me. 

Braised pork rice is mean a lot on me and I will never forget my grandma, but that is not the point. The point is having a real Taiwaness braised pork rice is something I think every people in the world should have. If you haven’t try one, come to Taiwan immediately and have one. Otherwise I will say you just lose the change to know what is the heaven looks like.

New Year resolution

1. Play less video game

2. Get a good score on SAT/TOEFL

3. Travel to some countries that I never been before

4. Make more friends 

5. Learn some music instruments that I never play before

One of the most important resolution is get a good score on SAT/TOEFL. I'm a junior right now and next year will be the year that decide which college I will go in the future. My parents hope I can get into a college that better than my brothers did. To achieve this goal, it required a good score of SAT/TOEFL. If I have a good score on those test, I will able to choose any college or university that I want. This mean I can make my parents happy by what they expect me to done, and they can stop worry about me. This is why get a good score on SAT/TOEFL is very important for me this year.
