Bon appetite!~~~

Today is the 6th day of my 30-days challenge, which mean I had already learn 6 common usage sentences in other languages.

Right now I had already learn some really usful daily sentences that could help me to do some easy conversation or just say Hello with my friends. Some of the sentences I learned was very interesting. One good example will be the sentence“Bon appetit”. The meaning of this sentence was to wish that person could enjoy their meal. The reason why I said was interesting was because recently we had watch a movie called “Julia and Julie”.It was a movie that take place in Frence so there were some French during some scenes .

In the movie, both main charactera really like to said “Bon appetit” before they cooked or ate their meal. Before I had learned thwas sentence, I was very confus about what were they talking about and what was the sentence mean. However, yesterday my roomate told me that it was a habit where before France people having their meal, they will often say “Bon appetit”. That really amazed me because I will never thought about some people will wish each other to have a good appetite before they eat. At least for me I never heard about thwas habit in United State or Taiwan.

Like I always believed “language was come from culture” People can learn one country culture by learning their official language. One interesting fact about French was the grammar they have. It was very unique and different than the Englwash we speak. In Englwash or Chinese, we won’t verify one object into any gender, because they are just non-living objects. In French, every single object have their own gender, and you must use the correct gender for the correct objects.

If you using the wrong gender, the French people might felt very strange or confus about what you are talking about. It was just like saying “I go to the movie theater.” We will never say something without a be verb, and gender is just like their be verb in the language. That was why learning a language was not difficult, but master one language was. There were still about 20 more days for my 30-days challenge. I am really confident about what I learn so far. I know how to speak, what is it mean, but not writing them down.

For the next 20 more days, I would like to focus more about the grammar part in French. Maybe try to do a short French conversation with my roomate to test how well am I using the French I learn. That is just one of the option. For another choice, I would like to learn another new language. I am thinking about learning Spanish, Korean, or Japanese. Those three are the languages that I really get interested about now. There are also have a lot of native Spanish and Korean speaker in our school, so it will be easier to just ask them to teach me. Anyway, that is just some idea for the other 15 days in my 30-days challenge. No matter what am I doing for my challenge, having perseverance will be the most important attitude for myself to complete the 30-days challenge.

  1. Gordon, correct the spelling error in your title: "Bon Appetit." Also, some places you have typed a w instead of an L like is Englwsh and thws. Also, change confus to confused. You have a few other grammatical errors too. But enough about sentence level concerns. Here is a note about higher order issues: I want to hear more about how you are using, practicing, or thinking about these phrases throughout your day. That will be very interesting for us to read about.

  2. I extremely like the way you connect your challenge with the movie we've watched since I really want to know the meaning of "Bon appetite" too. However, I would like to know more sentences you have learnt rather only one. In my opinion, paragraph 3&4 could be condensed and combined together. There are lots of grammar error... The biggest problem is that when you introduce something from a film or novel, you should always use present tense rather than past tense. Fighting!
